UNO takes its name from the unknown — and from uno, the number one. From zero to one: an interdisciplinary practice working across architecture, urban design and cultural tourism.
Approach
Architecture as a form of long-term thinking.
We believe buildings should arise from a deep reading of place — its geography, its history, its social life. From the bamboo seas of western Sichuan to the karst peaks of Guangxi and the valleys of the Tibetan plateau, we begin every project by listening: to the site, to the institution, to the people who will inhabit it.
We work across the whole life of a project — strategy, planning, architecture, construction and operation. Our team unites practice, research and teaching, with designers educated at Columbia University, UCL and Tongji University, and long-term partnerships with Shudao Group, Chengdu Cultural Tourism, SUNAC and China Railway Construction.
